About this check

What does this tool check?

We locate your sitemap (from robots.txt or the default path), parse it as urlset or index, count URLs and lastmod coverage, flag off-host entries, and open a sample of listed URLs to confirm they actually respond.

How should I read the result?

A sitemap full of 404s or missing lastmod dates actively hurts trust in the rest of the file. Sample reachability is an observation of a few URLs, not a full crawl.

What should I do next?

Declare the sitemap in robots.txt, keep lastmod accurate, and remove URLs that no longer resolve.
